Customer Review: Great Grill/Griddle
This is exactly what I was looking for. Very heavy, but I knew that and expected it. I love cooking with cast iron because there are no harmful toxins from non-stick coatings. The pre-seasoning is pretty good, didn't have to season it myself. But it is getting better and better with each use. If you care for it properly, it will be so non-stick that all you have to do to clean it is scour it under hot water and the water will bead up and roll off. Mine already does and I've only had it about a month. We leave it out on our gas stovetop all the time and use it frequently. We dry it after washing by turning on the gas under it until the water evaporates and then put a light coat of oil on it and rub it in with a paper towel to coat. Great purchase if you like cast iron cookware.
Customer Review: Unbearable heaviness of grilling
Makes a great burger according to my eight year old son who is an expert at eating them. Definitely a welcome addition in the kitchen, but a few caveats are in order. First of all it is very heavy - two hands required to lift it. Don't buy it if you have a porcelain sink as you will have to rest it against the side to clean it and you will scratch your sink. You also may want to measure the distance between your burners. It does not fit perfectly on mine and it has to be shifted toward the front in order to lay flat.

Lodge Logic 3-Quart Pre-Seasoned Chicken Fryer

Relive the vivid pleasure of childhood camping meals with this 3-quart cast-iron fryer with domed lid. Cast iron creates superior heat retention, heats evenly, and loves a campfire, unlike flimsier pans. Perfect for frying chicken, roasting potatoes, or baking cornbread, this 10-1/4-inch pan features tips on the underside of the lid that allow condensing liquids to drip and moisten the contents. While the skillet comes preseasoned to prevent food from sticking, it works best when sprayed or lightly coated with vegetable oil before use. Whether used in a kitchen or camp, this virtually indestructible pan should last for generations. --Ann Bieri

Customer Review: Wow...great buy
I bought this for seafood and frying chicken. It comes out fantastic. Because the sides are high, it has greatly reduced the spatter you would normally have frying. Oh, french fries come out tasting great too!
Customer Review: The "logic" choice
If you like mouth watering "ol'style fried chicken" or stews that melt in your mouth, and cooking time is not an issue, Lodge Logic is the way to go. It is the best hardware for the job. It is simply fantastic and made in the USA (read safe to use). Cast iron is an ideal heat conductor, it heats evenly and consistently, it is inexpensive and will easily last a lifetime or two. I would like to point out that this cookware needs "love" a.k.a. special care: It is very important to follow the cleaning and storage instructions and it will eventually require "Seasoning". It is safer than hi-tech non sticking pans and pots and does not need to be replaced every now and then. I use my 3 quart fryer to slowly simmer hearty meat dishes like goulash, pörkölt, spezzatino and chili con carne. I also occasionally use it to make fried chicken. To make pancakes I use my Lodge Logic round griddle, it beats hands down the so called n...

Customer Review: Classic Dutch Oven
We have lots of cast and this is one of my favorites. I have to say that when I purchased this, I really wanted the one with just the loop handles but this one was cheaper at the time. Boy, am I glad that I got the one with the wire handle. It is one of my favorite features. Cast can be really heavy, especially when full with a pot of food and this handle is so nice just to grab out of the oven. 5 quart is a really good size for a family and Lodge quality is always top notch. A dutch oven is a must for any kitchen and cast will last a lifetime. It is also the most healthy way to cook.
Customer Review: I can't believe I didn't buy this sooner
The Lodge dutch oven is a fantastic pan, I really cannot believe I have been cooking for 15 years without one. The lid fits perfectly, providing a leak-free covering for long-simmering stews. I was a bit skeptical about the pre-seasoning, but it was perfectly done, the pan was ready for use right out of the box, I just wiped it a bit in case there was any dust. Because of its solid construction, it is a very heavy pan. I am glad that I did not buy the 7-quart, as it would have been too unwieldy once filled with food. I was considering an enameled dutch oven by Le Creuset, but cannot see spending three times as much as the Lodge cast iron oven. Care must be taken to make sure that the pan is perfectly dry when put away to avoid rust, but such is the nature of all cast iron cookware, and is not specific to this item.

Lodge Manufacturing 410 Hibachi Iron Sportsman's Grill

This grill is ideal for picnics, tailgating and car camping. Even if the hunting grounds of the "sportsman" in your family happen to be the local grocery store, he will still appreciate the rugged looks and efficient performance of this hibachi-style grill.
Customer Review: Cooking on this grill is hot!
This Hibachi is the real deal. I have owned this grill for 3 seasons now and it is still like new and I use it often to cook some great steaks or burgers. You can control the heat almost perfectly with the adjustable slide door. Want to give your steak a nice flavor without using an entire bag of charcoal... then this is the grill for you. Just empty the ashes out when your done, clean the grill top and then put it away. It will last a lifetime.
Customer Review: Used as camping grill
I got one of these for my Birthday while camping in White Mts NH. I have a small propane portable plus my Fleetwood pop-up stove plus camp fire ring supplied by National Forrest. I used to cook steaks over camp fire ring but had issues with this. I had to cover grate with foil since who know what was burned in it. Gas stove did alright job but lacks barbeque flavor. This stove cooked up two good size wonderfull steaks using two big coals from campfie plus some maple twigs picked up around camp site. WOW did those steaks come out great! Control for air flow plus loading door for twigs made fire very easy to control. Just be aware this is not a lite and walk away grill, but if you like to cook, and like that outdoor smoke taste you cant beat this set up. Yes it is heavy but that also means sturdy. Next time I will probably put foil at bottom of ash pan to ease clean up. Clearly this is not meant for everyone but as I said if you enjoy outdoor cooking and great taste this is a great set u...

Lodge Pro-Logic Pre-Seasoned 10-Inch Skillet

The one thing that probably discourages more people from purchasing and using cast iron is maintenance. Like carbon steel woks, cast iron cooking pieces require "seasoning." To many this is a mysterious or overly time-consuming process. Even if you treasure fond memories of eggs and pancakes cooked in grandmother's ancient, blackened skillet, you might have no idea how to turn your new pan into such a treasure. Fortunately Lodge has come out with the new Logic line, which has been evenly coated on all surfaces with an electrostatic spray of vegetable oil. Next the cookware is put into an extremely high temperature industrial oven which bakes the coating into the surface. Not only will you be spared the time and effort of seasoning, but also the new piece you buy will look and perform better than if you had seasoned it at home. Just like that heirloom pan you will find that even pineapple upside down cake doesn't stick to this surface. A perfect pan for frying hamburgers, making skillet...

Customer Review: Great pan
I've been wanting to get into cast iron cookware and, after reading the user reviews for the Pro Logic line I bought a 12" and a 10". These pans are everything they say they are, great quality, absolutely no sticking from the beginning, and the difference in flavor is amazing. I haven't used my other skillets since. They're not hard to care for at all, in fact they're easier than caring for non-stick (if you're caring for your non-stick pans the way you should). I think I'm going to buy the little one now just for eggs or grilled cheese, etc.
Customer Review: Excellent
This is the first time I've purchased a 'pre-seasoned' cast iron pan & I have no regrets. It has all the benefits of a cast iron pan, without the need for seasoning. You can use it right away, right out of the box. Also, the pre-seasoned finish is way more uniform & thorough than any job I could do at home. I think from now on, my cast iron purchases will be for pre-seasoned items only.

Customer Review: Quality Cast Iron
I purchased the Lodge Logic Pre-seasoned Cast Iron 4-Quart Dutch Oven for for Christmas. This Dutch Oven is a high quality product. My wife loves it for making pot roast. She says that it is superior to our stainless Farberware for roasting. The pre-seasoning is a great feature. It is great to see that there are quality products available, that are USA made. The cheaper Chinese products do not compare in quality. The Lodge item should last a lifetime. It is a good investment.
Customer Review: perfect for two people
We originally bought this because we wanted a "pan" that is deeper for stir-frying. Instead of the chicken frier that is 3 inch deep, we picked this 4-inch deep model. And just like every other cast iron owner, we ended up using it for almost everything. Indeed, within a shortly one month period, it has already become our favorite cooking device, replacing a top-of-the-line calphanon non-stick and an claded stainless steel for all kinds of food: meat, eggs, tofu, vegetables, you name it. I didn't know cast iron can be soooo good.

Customer Review: Best pan I've ever owned
Most of my pans are All-Clads that I picked up at really good prices (for instance, a $105 MC2 2-quart pot I found at Dillard's inexplicably mismarked for $23.75), and even though they're really nice, this cheap Lodge is the pan I use by far the most often. I've had it for 3 years now, and I can't imagine a day in the kitchen without it. I prefer it to my 12" Lodge skillet not only because it is a more manageable size, but also because of the longer, curved handle and the nicely-sloped sides that make tossing or getting under food easy. Though the pan does come seasoned, the texture is still quite rough, so you might find that it isn't really and truly nonstick until you've used it for a while. After a few weeks of use, though, mine was shinier and rarely ever stuck. I accidentally burned off most of the seasoning on the inside last year and pretty much had to start over, but now it's blacker and slicker than it was before. I clean it every now and then with soap an...
Customer Review: It's a metal skillet, it works!
This low-tech oven skillet works as designed. I use it to make Dutch Babies (German pancakes) for breakfast and it does a great job at this task. Not much more you can say... it's just a big, heavy skillet that works.

Hunter 60" Ceiling Fan: Grand Lodge with Remote, New Bronze # 23682

Customer Review: Fan Turns Itself Off & On
I rate the Hunter Lodge ceiling fan with remote control inferior in design, value and quality. After having paid a licensed electrician to install it, I began having problems with it almost immediately. The fan is beautiful, and works effectively when you want it to, but the trouble is, the remote triggers the fan and light to come on by themselves, sometimes together, sometimes independently of each other. You don't necessarily want to come home and find out the fan has been running all day when you're out of the house, or all weekend when you're out of town. And you particularly don't want the light to come on when you're trying to get a little shut eye, at 2:00 am. I didn't do my research on this product before purchase because Hunter fans have always been superior products. Guess there's a first time for everything. I have since found numerous complaints about this product, online. So now I have to either live with the issues, or contact Hunter for replacement parts, which ...
Customer Review: Nice fan, lousy remote receiver
I purchased a Grand Lodge fan from Lowes circa 2003-ish. In December, 2007, the fan's remote receiver (which controls the fan's speed, direction, and the light kit's on/off and dimmer functions) began to malfunction. It would control the fan, but it would not turn off the light. Since I like to sleep with the fan on, I had to unscrew the bulbs to turn off the light but leave the fan running, and screw them back in if I wanted the light. I called Hunter's customer service line after the holidays, and ordered a replacement receiver. (This is the circular gizmo that fits inside the housing just above the light kit, part # 85112-04 for my fan.) Normally $40, they gave me a "first time caller" discount of $20, and shipped it FedEx ground. I had it in about a week. Swappng the receiver is pretty easy; remove the glass globe, the two bulbs, three screws to remove the light kit housing, then slide out the receiver, and unsnap a wiring harness. Insta...

Lodge Logic 11-1/4-Inch Pre-Seasoned Grill Pan

Customer Review: great grill pan
The Lodge grill pan I received from Amazon (in February 2008) has a helper handle in addition to the pan handle, unlike the pan in the picture. Generally, cast iron pans need different care than ordinary pans but it's not difficult. Always preheat the pan on the stove, for example to medium high for grilling steaks. I like very rare steak so it only takes about 2 or 3 minutes to cook. As another example, I usually preheat the pan to medium for grilling shrimp scampi with lemons & garlic. Whatever dish I manage to make, the food tastes great and the grill marks always look appetizing. After using the pan, let it cool (I usually wait till the next morning) then wash it with plain hot water and a scrub brush. Never soak it in water. Dry it thoroughly, then spray the inside lightly with cooking spray or wipe it down with a light layer of oil. Now it's ready for the next time. The more you use it, the less it will smoke, as the carbon builds up inside the pan and the surface becomes more no...
Customer Review: need guidelines for using this pan
My latest Foreman grill is worn out, and I bought this pan as a possible replacement. In three tries so far, though, I haven't been able to cook anything well. The pan is either too hot, and the char marks are too burned and the food sticks to the pan while being underdone, or, in trying to lower the heat, there are no char marks and the food gets overcooked and dry. Obviously, I'm doing something wrong, but there were no general guidelines about pre-heating the pan, "greasing" the pan" (I tried PAM, but any of that just runs down the side of the grids), how long what should cook, etc., etc. I'll tackle it again in a few weeks when things slow down, but in the meantime, I'm still using my aging Foreman

Customer Review: Good pan for searing
Overall quite satisfied with this item. This would be my second cast iron pan, and it is great for searing meats, or cooking eggs. No sticking as others have noted, but cast iron does have its limitations. You cannot deglaze after searing something, since wine is usually acidic. You also cannot braise, since tomato sauces, and vinegars are acidic. The sloped edges allow for easy cleaning, and I use a wok brush, as opposed to a nylon brush. Nylon melts when it meets the hot iron surface. It is also too heavy for flipping foods, although the sloped sides suggest you can. No, I'm no measly featherweight cook, but this is still mega heavy, especially with the small handle. Of course, the small handle is good for cabinet storage. In summary, I would suggest the straight edge model instead of this one, and don't let this be your only pan. Great for diner style foods I would say.

Customer Review: Lodge it top Notch
Love it and it will love you back. Cant beat a good seasoned piece of Cast Iron. Its pre seasoned but that only a start. Years of use will give you a slick as glass practically non stick surface. I have several pieces of cast iron and use them frequently and they are seasoned very well and I love to cook on them. And forget about what you have heard, yes use dishwashing liquid when you need to. Just dont let it stay on there. Clean it and get it off your Iron and dry it well and wipe with a little shortning.(Old fashoned soaps had LYE and that will strip your seasoning, but modern detergent in small amounts quickly used will do no harm) Heat the skillet till smoking and turn it off and let it stay on the burner till cool. Wipe out any excess and your good to go and on the way to a favorite treasured item.
Customer Review: My favorite Lodge pot!
This is my 'rice-cooking' pot. I make brown rice a lot, just for me, and it is perfect for cooking one to two cups of rice. The lid fits snugly so, after I have put the rice into the boiling water and stirred it, I can put the lid on, turn on my timer, and not touch it again until it is finished cooking. It comes out perfectly every time. I, of course, appreciate the Lodge quality and the fact that it is still made in the USA. All my regular cast iron is Lodge. This is just a wonderful size. I don't even put mine away anymore. I keep it out and, when not in use, I will put bananas, or other non-refrigerated produce or garlic, in it for cool storage.

Lodge Logic Pre-Seasoned 5-Quart Dutch Oven with Loop Handles

The American-based company Lodge has been fine-tuning its construction of rugged, cast-iron cookware for more than a century. No other metal is as long-lasting and works as well for spreading and retaining heat evenly during cooking. Lodge's Logic line of cookware comes factory pre-seasoned with the company's vegetable oil formula, and is ready to use right out of the box.

At 10-1/4 inches in diameter and 4 inches deep, this 5-quart Dutch oven holds a heap of chili, chicken and rice, or fruit cobbler. This model is not the campfire style, with legs, wire handle, and a lid for coals. This one is flat-bottomed to sit on a stovetop burner or in the oven, with a domed lid that sends moisture back into the pot. Loop handles aid in carrying with oven mitts. While the Dutch oven comes pre-seasoned to prevent food from sticking, it works best when sprayed or lightly coated with vegetable oil before use. After the meal is done, simply scrub the cast iron with a stiff brush and hot water, no...

Customer Review: I threw it in the garbage!!!
I read the reviews and thought that this was "just what I needed". The shipping was fine, the product WAS horrible. I tried the pre-fixing before I made my soup in it. The soup was okay (Lentil) but then it never got clean again. I tried re-oiling the cast iron and that made it worse. It was rusted and never got any better. Besides this, it was as heavy as lead. I could barely lift it to take it off the stove. I asked a couple of friends what to do and/or if they wanted it. No way! So, I threw it out!! Good riddens!!!
Customer Review: Best for Kitchen or Camp Stove
I own a slightly older version of this model. I've owned it for about 8 years now and it has never let me down. This particular design isn't really intended for outdoor/camping but would work very well for that purpose if you set it on the cooking grates of your charcoal grill or on your camp stove. I will only purchase Lodge cast iron Dutch ovens and fry pans. Others just don't have the density and weight. The only problem I have with this design is the lid, which has small spikes that are supposed to allow "self basting." Do these spikes do what they are intended to do? I don't really know. But, one thing the spikes do is make it hard to clean and evenly oil the lid. This is only a slight inconvenience and really would only cause me to mark this down a half star but that isn't an option so I will give it 4 stars. One other thing I need to mention concerns purchasing Lodge products that are pre-seasoned. The pre-seasoned products are more expensive and I don't really think they are se...
